Frequently Asked Questions
Am I covered by insurance?
We are in-network with Aetna, Ambetter, Cigna, Healthgram, Medcost, MultiPlan, UMR, United Healthcare and BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina (not Blue Home or Blue Value) insurance companies. We will verify your insurance when you schedule an appointment.
We are not in network with Medicare, Medicaid, Aetna Duke Select, Blue Value/Blue Local, but do have Self-Pay Plan and Self-Pay Single Session options available.
How much do your services cost?
We are in-network with several North Carolina insurance companies, meaning our services are covered at little to no cost for the patient. We also offer self-pay options statewide, including a Self-Pay Plan and Self-Pay Single Sessions.
How long does an appointment last?
Typically our appointments last between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the specific purpose of your visit.
Is my health data secure?
Yes. We only use HIPPA-compliant platforms to make sure that all records and communications are secure and confidential.
How do Telehealth appointments work?
When you schedule a visit with us, your email reminders will have a "Start Appointment" button. On the day of your visit, you simply click the link and your telehealth appointment will begin.
Can I see a provider in-person?
No. We believe that telehealth offers many advantages in terms of convenience, security and keeping the costs of care down. Our model is currently geared toward taking advantage of the many benefits that modern telehealth has to offer.
How can I communicate with my provider?
We value security and privacy, which is why we ask all patients to communicate with us through our Patient Portal. We will walk you through how this works when you schedule your first appointment. Access Patient Portal.
Do I have to do a full 12- to 24-week plan?
It takes time to see the benefits of behavior change. That’s why we ask all patients to commit to a minimum of 3 months, so that we can work together to achieve real, tangible results. For patients who are covered by insurance, however, there is no actual contractual obligation—so if you don’t find our services beneficial, you will be able to interrupt the plan at any time at no cost to you.
I am only interested in nutrition counseling. Why do I have to work with you on sleep, movement, or mindset?
While everyone has specific areas of focus, experience has taught us that it’s extremely important to still address all aspects of a person’s lifestyle. The Method does take into account the priorities of each individual patient, however, so if one Key element—sleep, for example—is not a major concern, we can focus more of our attention on higher priority Keys.
